I have come across a lot of research that states that children who are bilingual, tend to be better at learning and understanding languages as well as more intelligent then their monolingual peers. The main book I read was called ‘Baby Language’ written by a speech therapist.

Another interesting fact, I am a secondary school English teacher! Furthermore, I spoke early at around 12 months and do well at languages. My parents spoke to me in Urdu, though both could speak English very well and when I got to nursery it didn’t take me long to pick up English and funnily enough over the years I lost my fluency in Urdu and have recently after the birth of my first born picked it up again.
